For many years, Levy & Associates’ policy has been to practice what we call Preventative Law. By this, we mean that we promote safe legal practices with our clients with the goal of avoiding future legal conflicts.
And now we are all practicing a bit of Preventative Social Interaction toward reducing the impact of the Covid-19 virus, by taking a safe, but moderate approach to our daily activities. Our firm’s response is to continue checking in with our most senior clients to ensure that they are safe and receiving appropriate care, speaking with as many clients as possible over the phone and having small meetings with clients to execute appropriate and necessary medical documents to ensure that their wishes are honored in the selection of who may make their legal and/or financial decisions should they be unable to do so. We are continuing to help clients execute documents to qualify for Medicaid where appropriate and to help elderly clients who have debt issues legally address those issues to lift the stress and burden of debt off their shoulders. And we are also completing estate plans to include Wills and traditional and not so traditional trusts to ensure that desired financial actions occur in the event of death.
Although we usually prefer initial consultations to be held in person, we have adjusted to have comprehensive consultations by phone which can even include setting up easily accessed conference calls to include multiple family or corporate members. Note that we generally do not provide free consultations, but our initial consultation fee is nominal to cover reserving one or both of the attorneys’ time to meet with you and provide a plan of action to cover your needs, administrative costs of setting up a file, and completing a conflict check.
We plan to stay open and at the office so long as we are healthy and busy enough to warrant being together. Our little group is something of a family unit. We rely upon each other and genuinely enjoy being together. Even though most court appearances have been postponed, we are still very busy with our clients’ legal needs, and haven’t really noticed a slowdown in our workload yet. And we aren’t complaining about it.
Don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have legal questions during this strange time in our history and reach out to us if you believe we can help you in any way. We are continuing to help raise funds for a fellow lawyer who has been stricken with something other than Covid-19, but has lost his source of revenue and thus needs financial assistance to care for his family. And we are helping our small business clients to find ways of coping with this crisis.
So always, we at Levy & Associates are here because we recognize that Knowing the Difference Makes a Difference and we live that concept daily. Stay safe and well!
